Book launch! 'Peak Performance' is now available.

I am delighted to be one of the 32 authors of the new book 'Peak Performance: Mindset Tools for Managers'.

It has been a dream for a long time to write a book, and even though my contribution is only one chapter in this case, it is a valuable first step towards possibly soon writing my own book.

My chapter is entitled 'The Positive Stress Mindset Method'. I developed this method as a training (in-person or online (live or at your own pace) to help people develop what I call mindset flexibility. This flexibility helps to manage stress and burnout better, but also, in an organisational context, it helps to build resilience and well-being without sacrificing performance and motivation.

To develop the method, I drew on a variety of tools and methods which I have used on myself as well as with my clients during my coaching sessions over the years. These are:

  • Neuro and behavioural science

  • Acceptance and commitment therapy

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy

  • Polyvagal theory

  • Emotional intelligence

  • Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR)

  • Habit change coaching

  • Theory U

In the book, I offer some details on the six key pillars that form the basis for my method:

  1. Understand and regulate your nervous system

  2. Increase your neuroplasticity

  3. Increase your emotional and somatic flexibility

  4. Increase your cognitive flexibility

  5. Build your resources

  6. Train your mindset flexibility

Stress is everywhere these days. We are a stressed society. But we also tend to misunderstand stress. We see it as the enemy, an enemy that must be fought against and avoided. This rigid and fearful mindset sometimes work. But it also often does not. A yoga class here and there, the occasional holiday, trying to avoid stressors, all of these 'techniques' have their limitations. The world of psychology also shows us that fear and avoidance can do more harm than good. It is time to look at stress differently. At the very least, to understand it better and to learn how to 'dance' with it.

As the Roman philosopher Seneca once said: 'Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning how to dance in the rain'.

The Positive Stress Mindset Method helps to learn how to dance in the rain.

If you are interested in the training, please contact me, or start by reading my chapter in the book 'Peak Performance'. The book is now available on Amazon as Kindle edition, paperback or hardcover. The Kindle edition is priced very low during the launch: only USD 0,99!

The book has already reached bestseller status in Business Management in the US, Australia and Netherlands. So, grab your copy now (and if you like it, please leave a 5-star review):
